10IPT: Communications Systems

posted Feb 10, 2013, 1:24 AM by Eddie Woo
Unfortunately I won't be able to be with you in class for this lesson, but that won't stop you from being able to make a start on this, your third and final core topic for the HSC IPT course. We'll discuss this more later, but to help you make a start, let's lay down the following definition:
  • "Communication" is the act of passing on a message from a sender to a receiver.
Please complete the tasks below:
  1. Think of a normal day in your life. Identify all the systems that you use or benefit from that involve communication of some kind.
  2. In every act of communication there is a sender (who creates the message), a medium (which carries the message) and a receiver. Describe examples of communication that each have a different medium.
  3. In a 200-word comment to this post, discuss the statement: "Global communication has improved society and culture all over the world."
If you complete all these tasks, then please make sure you have created your major project register and made a first post with your initial thoughts/ideas (at the time I'm writing this, only about half of you have done this). See you all on Tuesday!
