It may seem strange to do this as early as June, but it's now time to start reviewing the entire HSC course - from what we started covering in Term 4 last year - and preparing notes for your final stretch of studying in October.

It's by design - one of the things I've learnt over the last few years teaching this course is that leading up to the trial, people have simply forgotten some of the concepts that we've dealt with because we looked at them so long ago! So that is the point of this stage of the course. Below I've included a timeline of how everything will play out until the end of the year.

Time Content
Term 2
Week 9 Core 1: Project Work
Week 10 Core 2: Databases
Holidays
Term 3
Week 1 Core 3: Communications Systems
Week 2 Options: Multimedia & DSS
Week 3 Trial Exam (Thu 2 Aug)
Weeks 4-5 Turning the tables...
Weeks 6-10 Practice Sessions
Holidays
Term 4
Week 1 Final (!) Review
Week 2  HSC Exam (Fri 19 Oct)
Weeks 3-10 A well-earned reward...

Today and tomorrow, we'll be looking at the first core topic: project work. Your aim is to produce a comprehensive set of notes - for yourself and (at maximum) one other partner - in order to ensure that you really know the course inside out and can explain any part of it when a question is posed to you. For each concept in the topic (and this will apply to the other topic reviews as well), you should aim to have a brief explanation and a clear example.
