The London Olympics have just begun, which makes this the perfect time to look at the issues raised by Transmitting & Receiving. I think I've probably seen Foxtel's ad for "every Australian medal LIVE" about a hundred times and gotten fairly tired of it, but then I remember that it's only even possible because of how much communications technology is underneath our ability to watch our athletes compete! Please complete the following tasks:
  1. Explain how the widespread use of digital data has led to larger concerns with regard to the quality of information we consume.
  2. Explain why it is especially important to evaluate the quality of information we receive today, and describe five criteria for carrying out this evaluation.
  3. Outline the concerns related to data security within the transmitting and receiving process.
  4. Discuss the ways in which personal relationships can be affected by internet communications.
  5. Explain the term "global village", and analyse some of the issues that it raises.
  6. Examine and describe the changes that ubiquitous telecommunications have made in the area of work, both with regard to (a) remote or mobile work and (b) new businesses or increasingly-redundant businesses.
