9IPT: Issues in System Design

posted Oct 18, 2012, 2:49 PM by Eddie Woo
Today we have a double period, and I've been itching to do something a little different, so we're going to do things a little out-of-order and skip to the end of the Project Management topic to look at some of the social and ethical issues involved with new information systems. In your groups, complete the following tasks:
  1. Read your assigned article and brainstorm ideas to your assigned question.

  2. Use the internet and start researching some current examples of what your article is referring to.

  3. Construct your group presentation. It should have the following characteristics:
    • Every group member must present
    • Each person is allocated 1-2 minutes to speak
    • Each speaker's section must fit coherently into the rest of the presentation (ie. it must "flow")
    • Visual aids should be included in the presentation

  4. The presentations will begin at 10:25 sharp! Audience members should answer the following questions as they watch the other groups:
    • Outline the issue being addressed by the group's presentations.
    • Briefly describe each example raised by the group.
    • Evaluate the examples chosen for whether they clearly demonstrate the relevant issue.
