9IPT: Issues, Issues, Everywhere!

posted Aug 28, 2011, 4:14 PM by Eddie Woo
One of the primary things I've learned over the years teaching this course is that social and ethical issues are a prickly problem. They seem fairly straightforward when being explained to you, but when you are presented with a situation and asked to discuss them yourself, it's a lot easier said than done!

So today's lesson is aimed at giving you some practice with that. See the articles below, and for each, describe as many social and ethical issues as you can in relation to each:
  1. Violent video games withdrawn from Norwegian stores after Oslo attacks
  2. Schools use the net to eavesdrop on students
  3. Lulzsec and Anonymous Declare Open War Against All Governments and Fat Cats
  4. Stalkbook: Facebook Places launches in Australia
  5. Australia the victim of 'massive' cyber espionage
  6. PlayStation Network: hackers claim to have 2.2m credit cards
P.S. You have 10IPT to thank for this selection of articles. Get to work! =)
