Today's lesson will tackle two concepts: non computer based processing (that's the "past") and processing software (that's the "present"). Please complete the following tasks with reference to the data types of text, images, audio and video:
  1. For each data type, identify 2 examples of software that can be used to carry out processing for each one.
  2. Identify 2 examples of software that can retrieve but NOT process the same data types.
  3. For each data type, describe 4 common examples of processing that are carried out with the software identified in task 1.
  4. Investigate and describe non-computer-based methods for half of the processing examples identified in task 3.
  5. Outline the advantages that come from (a) manually processing data and (b) electronically processing data, with specific reference to the examples identified in tasks 3 and 4.
