Intranet update: User accounts

If you've been following things, then you'll know that the shiny new school intranet site is up and running - for the most part. The catch is, unless you're a member of staff or a super-special student (i.e. part of my IPT class), you haven't been able to access it. Yet.

I spent the better part of today arranging everyone's user accounts. After some deliberation, I've elected to run the user database separately from the system of school network logins - to enable access from home to be simpler, quicker and less of a security risk to the rest of the school. If the intranet, for whatever reason, ends up being compromised, it stands alone so the rest of the school network (with really important things like exams, marks, assessment tasks and so forth) will still be safe.

However, since you already have one nine-digit number to remember to log into the school network, I decided not to make you remember another one - so your username for the intranet is the same number. I've randomly generated passwords for everyone and those will be distributed in a roll call some time in the next couple of weeks - if the team and I are organised enough!

It's getting real close. From my perspective, it's actually quite exciting! Let's hope it all goes well.
