IPT: Exam Review

posted Mar 25, 2009, 4:57 PM by Eddie Woo
I hope this morning's review was helpful for all of you. It was a very tough exam and that was partly the point! When an exam is difficult, you really ought not to despair - but instead, treat it as a learning experience. Put the exam under the microscope, note your strengths, observe what things you missed out or misunderstood, and consider how you can improve for the next assessment. That's what this whole regime of exams is really about, after all.

My hastily typed up sample answers are attached. Please work through them and re-work the answers you perceive the need to. Spend a maximum of 10 minutes on this please (with the exception of Clay, who can spend a little longer). All in a classwork post, please!

Also, to recap what you'll be doing in periods 6-7: the old science intranet is still accessible at http://intranet/science, so head in there and do something like the following:
  1. Begin a project register post detailing what you're about to do.
  2. Identify and list out the data that hasn't been moved over to the new intranet
  3. Together, form a schematic diagram for how you think it ought to be arranged on the new intranet. Begin by mimicking the old intranet layout, and then consider how it can be improved.
  4. Divide up the work evenly amongst everyone in the class, and make a record of it on this page.
  5. Get working!
I don't think I made it very clear this morning that I'm referring only to the Senior Science portfolio, as the junior portfolio is Clay's responsibility. This is one of the last major hurdles before the old intranet is entirely mothballed and the new intranet becomes the new default homepage for internet browsers within the school. Happy major project-ing!
