If it's not a helpful mnemonic for you, don't worry about it! But if it assists you in remembering the 7 processes, then all the better. 8-)

I hope you were impressed by this morning's presentation. We live in an amazing universe, and it's great when technology helps us to see past the physical constraints of our eyeballs!

Here is what I listed under each of the processes:
  • Collecting: camera lens, CCD (charge coupled device - though in this case, as Blair pointed out, it is probably a CMOS), ADC (analogue-to-digital converter)
  • Organising: RAW (when first captured)
→ JPG (to reduce file size)
→ MP4 (when the frames are assembled into a video)
→ FLV (when the video is stored on and streamed from the website)
  • Analysing: video tags (categories), video title, opening video frame (with details of event and equipment used during recording) and closing video frame (showing publisher credits)
  • Storing & Retrieving: camera buffer (like the cup of water!), camera flash memory, computer hard drive, Vimeo server, local computer's temporary internet files
  • Transmitting & Receiving: USB cable, publisher's internet connection, school's internet connection, within school network (from library server to T-block switch, to T2.3 computer)
  • Processing: light levels/contrast, noise reduction, image resize, assembly of individual frames into video clip
  • Displaying: camera LCD screen (upon capture), publisher's computer screen (while editing), projector screen in T2.3 (when shown during morning class)

Now that that's over and done with, let's get onto period 7's material. Refer to this morning's post for the work you're to do on decision support systems.

This afternoon's lesson is the last one for a whole week due to the church service this Thursday. In the week between now and next lesson, you should be aiming to make some heavy progress on your multimedia mini-assignment, as well as on catching up any unfinished classwork. I will be expecting (and checking for) classwork and project register posts from all of you in the next 7 days!
