More Database Concepts

Today we will be considering a variety of different concepts that all relate to databases. They aren't directly connected to one another, but you need them all to understand the topic of databases - think of them as the spokes of a wheel that all come out from a central hub.

Keys
  1. Describe the four kinds of keys.
  2. Explain situations in which each key is suitable.
Relational Database Schema
  1. Outline the main components of a schema.
  2. Provide examples of the three different kinds of relationships.
  3. Draw a schematic diagram for a video store that loans out DVDs to customers.
  4. Describe the process and purpose of database normalisation. Hence, explain why it can both help and hinder the database participants.
  5. In your new textbook, read from the Hypermedia heading on page 49 up to page 52. Then answer questions 11-14 and learning activities 1-5.
