More on Multimedia Hardware

Previously, we looked at how multimedia hardware has advanced as a result of and in response to multimedia. There are lots more interesting things to look at under the heading of multimedia hardware:
  1. Outline the manner in which a Head-Up Display (HUD) functions and describe its key benefits with reference to the fields in which it tends to be used.

  2. Explain why LCD monitors have largely replaced CRT monitors.

  3. Identify and describe three specific examples of multimedia software/hardware platforms that incorporate touch-sensitivity. Explain why the combination of collecting and displaying into a single device is such a compelling user experience.

  4. Discuss the progress of television hardware through various technologies (CRT, Plasma, LCD, LED backlighting), with reference to the perspective of (a) consumers and (b) manufacturers.

  5. Investigate the spread of digital television (Freeview) and predict the social and economic impact that will occur through the proliferation of new digital channels and the discontinuation of analog television.
