Multimedia is now an integral component of our society and culture. That integration will be the focus of today's lesson.
  1. Summarise the uses (and benefits) of multimedia in the four main areas described in pp281-282.
  2. Give examples of multimedia in the spheres of education, workplace training, leisure/entertainment, news/information, personal communication, health care and engineering (e.g. aeronautical, aerospace, civil, biomechanical, chemical, electrical, mechanical, mechatronic, molecular, telecommunications).
  3. What realm of life (e.g. from the list above, or elsewhere) has been changed the most by multimedia? Justify your response with examples.
And after the bell:
  1. Outline the technological advances have formed the foundation for multimedia's push into culture...
    1. the past? (see textbook, pp283-284)
    2. the present? (e.g. affordable broadband, mobile networks with increased bandwidth, web 2.0)
    3. the future? (e.g. truly ubiquitous internet access, neural interfaces)
