There were a lot of organisational details to digest yesterday, so here they are in written form (just in case you forgot to write them down).

Don't forget that one of the primary ideas behind having a term full of assessments is to spread out the load for you. Please don't be overwhelmed by the sheer number of activities that are listed; each one is worth a correspondingly small amount, and taken altogether they equal the weighting that you would expect for a single exam (i.e. 15% in total). Given that each individual person will participate in 3 quizzes, 1 debate, 1 oral presentation and 1 essay, this means that the activities (not including the major project) are weighted at 2.5% each.

Schedule

Week Activity
2A First lesson
3B Topic quiz 1
4A Class Debate A (3 vs 7)
5B Simultaneous oral presentations
6A Class Debate B (5 vs 4); topic quiz 2
7B Work experience
8A Essay
9B Class Debate C (2 vs 6); topic quiz 3
10A Class Debate D (8 vs 1)
11B Stage 1 major project due

NB. Debate topics will be released 2 weeks ahead of each debate. For instance, the topic of Debate B (held in week 6) will be released in week 4. The only exception is Debate C, whose topic will be released in week 6 (due to work experience).

Also, the first team for each debate will be arguing for the affirmative (e.g. team 3) and the second team will be negative (e.g. team 7).
