Wednesday morning motivation

One of the reasons I became a teacher is because I love watching (and helping) people learn. I think the reason I love that so much is because I myself love to learn. (That may seem like a given in a school like this, but believe me, it's not.)

It's a sad reality, though, that people can often begin to do something and then lose sight of their original intentions in the process of actually doing it. I wouldn't say that I've lost sight of why I am a teacher - I'm lucky enough to work in a great place with great people, and so I get daily reminders of why I love to do what I do. But in all honesty, the last few weeks (or months?) have been so filled with preparing lessons, setting assessments, marking tests and other busy-work that the whole idea of learning has taken a bit of a back seat... and when I watched this video, a light went on in my head and I suddenly remembered - with much greater clarity than I've had recently - just how amazing it is to think, and ponder, and come to a greater understanding of the incredible universe we live in.

Not to mention, I love Mythbusters, so as soon as this guy starts talking he has instant credibility with me. And he's not a bad public speaker either. So I hope you enjoy this as much as I did!
