Yrs 8 & 10: Quizzes

I spent quite a while thinking before deciding to post up today's content. For a long time, I've resisted posting up any of the quizzes I've run in class. I figured that I might want to use these same tests in the future, and it would be a pain if students had already seen the questions and knew the answers already. However, a few things have made me change my mind about publishing these. In no particular order:
  • This site is about teachers as well as students. As a relatively new teacher, I've benefited heaps from free teaching and learning resources on the internet - ideas, worksheets, illustrations and so on. Making this site and my original content publicly available is just a small way of giving back to the worldwide community that has given so much to me.
  • It's a very different thing to (a) know the answers to a test and (b) to execute a well-understood concept or skill under pressure. Even if plenty of people in my future classes download and read these to their heart's content, it doesn't necessarily mean anything about their performance in the quizzes that I will give to those same classes.
  • Except to my IPT class, I don't publicise this website much. I figure if you're inquisitive enough to (a) find this place and (b) actually have a look through the content that's available on here, you deserve a little reward for your effort.
So without further ado, here are the files:
P.S. In unrelated news, as promised... here is a list of what everyone in our IPT class is bringing to tomorrow's End-of-Course Party:
  • Clay, Nivvi & Komal: baked stuff
  • Cathy: lollies
  • Blair & Jason: chips
  • Kevin: drinks
  • Amy & Joey: biscuits
  • Tony: cups
  • Ria: juice
  • Bach: corn chips & dip
