ADVANTAGES

DISADVANTAGES

DECISIVE CIRCUMSTANCES

 Direct
  • Fast
  • Time is money, hence cheaper
  •  Compatability issues
  • Need to be trained fast
  • May not work and the old system won't be present for backup

 Parallel
  • Participats can adjust easily
  • Safer as the old system is present as backup
  •  Expensive
  • Don't know which system to use so causes confusion

 Phased
  •  Allows good testing which means that if something goes hayire, only one section is affected
  • Cheaer, in theory, as only one system is operating at a time
  •  Takes a longer time to complete conversion

 Pilot
  •  Can make sure the new system works before complete change
  • Old system is still there for backup if new system fails at the beginning
  •  Additional Cost
  • Similar disadvantages as direct when fully switched
