Component 3B: Information Processes (Collecting Content)

A record of the 7 information processes should be maintained as the multimedia system is developed, including relevant discussion of issues related to software/hardware constraints and design decisions (e.g. organising data: compression levels applied to images, audio and video data).
  • Photos and video with digital camera.
  • Audio with MP3 player.
  • Statistics and facts on paper.
  • During collection, photos and videos were analysed and some were deleted as the memory card on the digital camera was not large enough and there were too many videos.
  • To conserve memory, I had to go through the videos and process them by cutting off the beginning and ends so that I could have more memory for additional data.
Storing and Retrieving
  • Images and video were stored on the camera.
  • Audio was stored in an MP3 player.
Transmitting and Receiving
  • At first on the screens of collection devices – camera, MP3, paper.

Software/hardware Constraints

Towards the end of the excursion, where there were still many things I wished to collect (digitally), due to the number of (useless) videos I took, I kept running out of memory. But, I survived using methods described previously.

Design Decisions

None really, just mainly collected randomly.
