Fixed LOTE programmes

Christine gave me the MP3 today, so I managed to record a student interview today. I hope to get another two interviews done, but I am not sure if I will have the time to.

--------

I fixed up the scans of the language programmes. Although they were all under the limit and could be uploaded, they are now much smaller in size.

In case I made the same mistake again, I tried saving the first few scanned files in different formats to see which one was the best. Yesterday, I tried scanning in black and white, and although the quality was a lot lower, it was reasonable for the amount of space it saved. When I did that, .PNG was the best format to save the file in. So the files should be easier to download due to the reduced file size.

The pictures were cropped so that the actual text size could be bigger. At first this was done in Microsoft Word, but the file size did not seem to change even if the pictures were cropped or resized, so instead this was done on MS Paint where it worked. It made little difference in the programs with fewer pages, but it should make a difference in the year 9 program which has 16 pages.

The page settings were also changed so everything is now in landscape, which will be easier to read on the computer. It also apparently reduces the file size - when I undid everything, the file size increased again. When I tested out the changes I made to the file one by one, the file size reduced when I rotated the image from portrait to landscape.

So then I tried rotating all the image files in MS Paint and it turns out that they are smaller when they are in landscape. However, it made little difference in the Word document (only by a few kilobytes per page), and it varied which method (rotating in Word or Paint) made it smaller, so I gave up on that idea.

I tried copying multiple images from the Pictures folder directly into Microsoft Word to save time. However, it seems that the order of the images can get mixed up.

The programs will be uploaded after I finish with the year 9 French file.
