Device Drivers

1.A device driver is a set of instructions for how a computer can communicate and work with a device e.g. pointing stick.
2.The reason we need drivers is so that we can increase efficiency of using hardware i.e. ensuring that everything occurs quickly and the way you want it to happen. An example of this would be so that a computer displays the correct data that you have typed on a keyboard. Another reason why we need drivers is to standardise everything to make it easier and save money for buying new software. An example would be that a computer may only be able to understand one type of keyboard but you have another type, hence the need for drivers to allow everythign to be done.
