It's the last post...almost

posted Jun 26, 2013, 5:01 AM by Unknown user

So it's the last post...almost, since we still have the documentation but it really does feel like the end. So we've finally finished the actual system, which is great but honestly, I don't know why I made this post as I did nothing today. Although, I did work on the documentation a bit today, and I finished the majority of it but I really want to finish before the holidays. I'll be back to post once I do more work :)

a new post...

Hey guys, so its the weekend before and naturally I thought I would be cramming a whole lot more as usually expected, although, it didn't happen this time, so yay! So today (Saturday), I mainly just worked on filming; I managed to go to a clue location and just as I finished filming, it started to pour, which I don't know if its a good sign or a bad sign, because I still needed to film some videos.
So I went home and worked on editing the video, which took like 20x longer than the filming process, which I guess was pretty much expected. Windows movie maker is a lot less limited now and you could do a lot more stuff with it, which is great. I also browsed youtube for some really good mysterious, creepy music and I managed to find quite a few but I had to decide exactly where in the final product I wanted to use each one. I am planning to so some more filming tomorrow (Sunday), so I'll be back soon.
So today (Sunday), I finished filming those videos that I originally wanted to film on Saturday, which was great and I also managed to edit them. Ahhhh, I feel so happy and satisfied. I also put all my little blog post videos into the final video, so that over the next few days I won't have as much to do.
It seems like I haven't really done anything with the website, but that's because I've mostly finished and I really just want to edit the about page. I want to add some more info to it but I'm not to sure exactly what I want to add. I'll be back sometime, during the week to make another update :)

New Changes

So over the last few ipt lessons, Mr Woo has been giving us some time to do our major project, which has been good although most of the stuff, you can't actually do at school (filming, voiceovers, etc). During this time, I just edited my videos and put the videos that I had into the final one, and planned the filming for future videos. And we also got our prototypes back and I got to see what Mr Woo thought about my assignment and any changes that would be required. I realised I need to definitely add more audio components as that was the media type that was lacking so I decided to put more background music, maybe a clue involving audio and any other audio that would really enhance both the website and the video.
We got some good news and that was that Mr Woo decided to push the documentation for this stage back to the first week of term 1, so we have the whole of the holidays to complete it yay! (although I'm going overseas, so that will be a bit of a pain).
I think I'll probably go home and make a post tonight :)

Weekends are for studying

Well I'm back with another post! So I had my doe hike this weekend, which was super tiring, but I rolled out of bed this morning, super eager to do some ipt! :)
So, I just mostly  just got to work on the video and managed to do some major filming today! This morning, I fixed up the introduction of the video, which strangely took a really long time and I didn't really plan for this, which was super annoying. And then I got to work adding the rest of the blog post videos to the final video. These I had to first edit and then refilm and hence took even longer! After I finished all of this, I went to one of the filming locations to film one of the videos. It was really great and I managed to get some snazzy new footage to add to my final video and it didn't even take that long at all. So after a hectic day of ipt, I have to say, that was actually really fun! I'm planning to mostly work on my video this week, as the website is already completed and I don't really feel that I need to add anything.
Anyway, that's really it, so bye :)

It's been a while..

So, I was supposed to post this on Wednesday but I never got around to finishing it. This post also contains what I did in the double ipt period that we had on Thursday :)

Ok, well it has been a while since I've been here hasn't it? And, as I am going to say again, in my defense we had our IPT exam, which was a major killer btw, but yeah, I've really just been studying for that. But I am here anyway and it is time to update you all with my recent progress on my assignment.
So today (Wednesday), I decided I really need to finish up at least some of this assignment, considering we only have two weeks to go + I have so many other assignments due before the end of term :( I worked on mostly the documentation today, specifically the project management techniques that were involved in the production and design of the information system. Surprisingly it didn't take too long and it was really helpful that Mr Woo included a word limit so I knew exactly how much to write. I managed to finish most of this component of the documentation and decided I would start on the next part tomorrow. I also began brainstorming any improvements that I would want to make to my current clues and I got a few ideas that I'm thinking of putting into place int the next week or so. But yeah, that's really all I did today :)

Since the other group had to finish editing their news video, the rest of us on our Thursday double had time to work on our ipt major projects which was great because I had a lot of work to do! So I mostly just finished up my documentation, so I wouldn't have to procrastinate over that and began thinking about any additions and changes that I would like to make to help improve the video. I got some few points down that I thought would be interesting and then worked on a bit of my blog post scripts. Since I had doe hike this weekend, I decided I would try and squeeze some filming and any other work into the Sunday that I had left over. I've got a lot more work to do, so this won't be the last you here of me ;)

PROTOTYPE IS OVER

posted May 29, 2013, 5:13 AM by Unknown user   [ updated Jun 12, 2013, 3:57 AM ]

As you can see from the title of this post, the prototype is finally over. The surveying and feedback and everything is over yay! But alas, the worst is yet to come :(
So today, I mostly just worked on the documentation aspect of the assignment- so like writing and justifying all the changes that I plan to make when producing my final website and video, and just more analysing of the feedback. It took a really long time, like really long. But it is all finished and I actually have nothing else to write here. Oh, I also continued working on my next clue, because I'm going to the location this weekend to film so that will hopefully be heaps of fun and also started scripting and filming for my next few videos. But essentially that was all I did today :) I will be back soon, posting again once I do some more work that is actually constructive.

More editing

So, we have hand in our assignment in around a day-ish, so things are really heating up. Well today, I mainly just worked on further editing and improving my website from the feedback that I received. I realised that the improving bit is so hard, its like trying to cut down on an essay- you don't want to delete even a little bit of your work that you've spent AGES on. But you have to do it. I actually really like getting the surveys back; it gave me a general idea of what other people thought of my website instead of just looking at it through my own boring perspective.
So I  changed like a bit on my website mainly just like my homepage and my prototype video and it actually took a really really really long time, but I don't really know why. Most of the time I just sat there thinking I have also been continuing on my survey and feedback documentation and that seems to be taking ages as well! ahhhhhh! And since Mr Woo refuses to give us a word count, I don't know how long it has to be or how short! Oh the life of an ipt student. Well, I think I'll be back for one final post before I hand in my prototype, so bye :)

The prototype is coming to an end

posted May 25, 2013, 4:13 AM by Unknown user

Well yesterday, I went onto the woo website to see when I last posted and it was like around 2 weeks ago, yikes! But in my defence, we did have half yearlies and that just seemed to take forever for some reason. Anyways, I am back and I've just been really editing and finishing stuff up AND I finally got around to handing out my survey so yay! I think I planned on giving my survey on like week 11 of term 1 so that just really goes to show the use of the schedule that I made during the planning stage. Since the surveys don't take that long, I got them back like right away so I could fix any stuff that needed fixing and just see what the users thought of my website and video. I think I will be posting quite a lot during this week since I will be trying to make the website and video look the best and make sure they meet the standard that is expected.

Oh and I got started on my third clue, and its probably my most creative and funnest yet. But it takes quite a long time to make, so I  want to try and work on it every night. And I'm planning to do some major filming next week because I'm going to all the venues so that should be fun. Hopefully I can get the filming done and just start incorporating all the small videos into the large final video so it won't be as hectic and stressful near the end when we need to hand in our assignment. So yeah that's really all that has been happening with my project, but I'll probably be back in the next couple of days :)

More random work..

posted May 8, 2013, 5:28 AM by Unknown user   [ updated May 9, 2013, 1:15 AM ]

So today I decided to work on my clues so that they were at the standard I wanted. I am only putting two clues on the prototype and I've done that so yay! I'm hoping to fix up my survey a bit later and then continue work on my video. I just recently discovered that the prototype of the video would also be surveyed after reading the assignment sheet more carefully, so I really need to get cracking with everything.
The first clue is actually really easy, but I am planning to make the clues harder as I go along. I got lots of inspiration from 4 pics 1 word, so I decided to base my clue on the game.
My second clue is like this cryptic sentence, but I won't give too much away now. Even with the two clues on the website, the site still looks sort of empty, and I am hoping to add some extra stuff. And I still haven't really decided what is going on to my home page; should I put my video prototype there? or should I put like a slideshow or something? Ahhh I'm still not sure! I was planning to go to one of the locations this weekend and do a bit of filming and stuff, but I'm not sure if I even have time anymore. Well I don't really anything much more useful to say, so bye :)

Altering the clues

posted May 7, 2013, 6:10 AM by Unknown user

Today, I decided to change my clues up a bit on the site. I didn't really like them too much, and I found them to be a bit too easy for my liking, so I restarted the clues all over again. Firstly, I decided to have a brainstorming session just concerning the general idea of the clues.  I stuck with my original plan of doing a total four clues, but I decided to change the whereabouts of the location of each clue, which surprisingly took a considerable amount of time. I tried to make the locations pretty interesting although the first clue is just an average kiddy park. The second clue is going to be in a forest/rainforest (which I am not actually going to, there is just a bit land near my house with a lot of trees and stuff). The third clue is going to be located near one of those park+rivers and the fourth clue is in this quite old building, which is pretty mysterious and is going to lead to the last scene of the video.

I also decided that I would probably include either one or two clues into my prototype website, just so that Mr Woo would have a general idea of how the website operates and the type of clues I will be posting onto the site. Tomorrow I am planning to change my second clue a bit and later finish up my survey so I can start distributing it on Friday. Ahhh, it seems like the prototype stage is drawing to an end very quickly and I need to still film most of the videos! Well, hopefully I will be back soon with some some more productive work :)
