Editing (The Final Countdown)

There is basically no time left to do things. I have been able to complete the design report but need to print it. I also have been able to install a FB like gadget on our website, after Edwin was able to create an FB page for our "company". The theme of the page has been changed by Edwin as he did not like the new theme I picked. He was able to create a banner using the logo that fit on the whole webpage, as he said that would make the page more interesting. We need to finish the catalogue and tidy up everything.

The catalogue has been tidied up, and all the books on offer by our store have been sorted out and grouped into tables, with their respective prices, authors, as well as previews, if possible.

Uh oh 1 more day till website is due. We have been hurriedly completing the catalogue, design report and adding bits and pieces to improve the quality and aesthetic appeal of the site. I have also made a Facebook page for our company. MUST COMPLETE EVERYTHING... We have also edited the home page so that is contains more info and the vertical sidebar was trashed as it was redundant. I have also been posting up PDF previews for select books.

The countdown clock says we only have 4 days to finish our assignment. Because of this, we are going to have to hurry up. The design report is coming together, along with the business spreadsheet. The only main problem is that we have to tidy up the website and that we have to finish off the catalogue. I was able to ask Pok for feedback and he said that the main problem was that the home page had a big blank space on the bottom right hand corner. This was easily filled by inserting an image of a stack of books. Edwin wants to change the logo again, but I don't think we have enough time.

We have about 1 week and 2 days left to complete our assignment. I have changed the theme of the website again to make it look more formal and I have found a way to make drop down boxes on our horizontal navigation and it looks very good. We are also working on our design report as it also needs to be completed. I have been scrolling through our previous posts to put it together. The business spreadsheet and catalogue are the other two things that need to be finished off. Other than that, the website is coming together nicely.

Today after working on the visual display process, we got some time for our website (it was a double). All of us started to work on our catalogue as it was a major part of our website seeing as it was a bookstore. After discussing/arguing, we decided to set it up in this way. Every subcategory of our catalogue (adventure, romance, etc.) would have a separate table, where basic information is listed (price, name author). Then if customers are interested, they may press a buy now button which is linked to another webpage where more info is displayed (picture of book, description/blurb, etc.) Throughout the next week, we will be continuing work on this seeing as there are a lot of books. We want to make a substantial amount to make our website look genuine. Meanwhile, we have also been constantly updating our design report and making regular posts for our 'corporate news'. However, we still need more work on our 'how we innovate with technology' and our 'new arrivals'.

We had another editing session today and were able to work on several things. Mr Woo gave us advice on the accessibility of our navigation and told us to make it less clustered. I was able to write up a new Corporate News post. Edwin wanted us to change the theme of our page as he thought our current theme was boring. Other than this, we were not able to do much else. We have to do a lot more to polish off and finish our website and we have to finish the other sections of the assignment. The Design Report has to be finished along with the Business Spreadsheet.
 
Overall, we only have 2 to 3 weeks left so we have to hurry up.

YAY im back from Japan and Hong Kong finally! So we r still unpacking and stuff, so I havent done much at home. However, in class i have done some work n the catalogue, adding a more variety of work. As Sam and Raymond have done some work on the website in the holidays, i will be doing more work during the rest of the term until it is due :D

We had another two periods to work on the assignment. I was able to upload the Business spreadsheet onto the website, and I figured out how to convert the vertical navigation bar into a horizontal navigation bar. We continued editing our Corporate blog and the catalogue, as these are the incomplete parts of our assignment. We have to start compiling our Design Report and finish off our Business Spreadsheet as well.
 
ADDENDUM: I was able to continue customising our website and make it more classy (change the title font, colour and all that stuff). I also reinstated a vertical navigation bar but reordered the bar so it was in the order I wanted it to be in. (edit: Editing the order was useless-so I had to revert back to automatic ordering of the navigation bar) I was also able to add a countdown to the website and it says we only have 28 days to finish off our assignment. We've got to hurry as there is still so much we have to do!
 
ADDENDUM 2: Added the rationale for our company logo to the About Us page-it needs to be edited.

Edited the Corporate News part, and and wrote 2 more updates on the corporate news.
I have also completed the sections in the catalogue e.g. Fantasy/Non-Fiction and have filled them with 30-50 books each. Prices and other book info e.g. Authors, publishers will be added shortly.
