Major Project Register

working

still working on video, almost done though, and am slowly adding stuff to requirement report. So far i haven't run into any problems, but the camera is making my life difficult by randomly erasing some video clips. But it's fine, since the filming location is close to my home and i can reshoot whenever i want.

Pretty good story (if I do say so myself)

So far, i've filmed the important scenes (but there are not many scenes overall), but it was mainly to give me a better idea of what everything would look like, so i could film the scenes properly later in more detail. I've also made 3 clues which link up so far, but i'm currently planning a pretty cool 4th clue. :D

My character's name is currently Carlos Rodriguez, but i might change it if i can make an interesting clue which involves a different name. By the way, I got the breadcrumb trail of clues idea from the movie Skyfall. An I quote from Bond: "I need you to lay a trail of breadcrumbs impossible to follow for anyone except Silva."

I've also created a decent backstory for Carlos, to introduce why he decided to join the clue hunt, and also to explain why he wants to win so badly. In essence, it's basically: Carlos' parents died in a shooting, and he inherited the money, then proceeded to lose most of it through gambling, eventually having to sell the mansion and live in an apartment. (keep in mind that he is only 24 years old). He had no degree and couldn't find a job due to not having decent qualifications. He was basically living off the inheritance and his money was going to run out soon, and once he saw this treasure hunt which had a prize of $100,000 and an opportunity to work at the company.

I've also made plans for a website which will tie everything together and it will also serve as the company's website.
If I have to make a video or article that had to be posted on a specific date, i'll just overlay the actual date in post-production. if i need to fake a popular YouTube channel, i will screenshot the channel, photoshop the number of subscribers/views, and use that as a fake webpage.

I haven't been working on the project this week due to exams, but i'll make up for it next week.

The prototype video is progressing slightly slower than i would like, and I still need to create a feedback form to hand in.

Phew, that's a lot to write, but then again, i haven't posted many times. :(

Edit: Oh wow, I just found another post that was saved as a draft...oh well, it didn't contain much so i'll just delete it.

Elaborating

I'm still pursuing the idea of an ARG gone wrong, where a participant makes the wrong assumption on a clue, eventually leading to his death. But normally ARGs don't involve death so I'm borrowing the idea from the Pokemon 'Lavender Town Syndrome' where a programmer secretly puts in a bit of malicious code then suicides shortly after. In my case, an EMPLOYEE who is helping in making the ARG could secretly make one clue seem normal, but the clue could be interpreted another way. however, only a VERY smart person can realise this alternate meaning for the clue, and in my story, there will be one person who figures it out.

The person, finding this alternate meaning, thinks he has found a shortcut in the ARG, and follows a trail different from other people. He will die in the end. :D

EDIT: OH WOW THIS WASNT POSTED, JUST SAVED AS A DRAFT. I originally meant to post this a while ago :L

Ideas

My ideas currently are to create an ARG or create a mystery surrounding the infamous 'Lavender Town Syndrome'.
