Project Work Lesson

In this lesson, I've finished hyperlinking pages towards each other, so now there's some kind of direction to the project. I asked people about what I could improve on, and many rementioned the audio file. I'm currently unable to upload the audio files on...
Also, I've been fiddling around with some settings on hte website to try and improve convenience. I'm trying to find some way to link back to "home", as well as working on a better introduction.

Now that the project due date has been reschedule, I'm planning to do some more stuff =).
Originally I was planning on quickly finishing the project so I could get to work on the written part, but now I have more time to perfect my prototype.
My prototype is pretty much done, because some scenes I cannot really film. For example, the diary entries can't really be acted out, because they're all set at different places in midnight. The only part I have left to turn into film is the part where Malcolm reads Dr Kasunder's diary entries.
Apart from that, I'm pretty much done. Google sites kind of limits things you can do on the functionality of the website. I think using the horizontal navigation bar at the top of the screen is enough, but I'll also add links to other parts of the story.

Onto the final project

As promised, I've been working on all sorts of things so I turn my prototype into a finished project!
Firstly, I'm still looking for ways to cut down on the story. Also, I'm trying to find places to insert more video/audio/images so that I can enhance the story.
Secondly, I've found how to hyperlink, so I'll work on adding a "continue" button so that users of the system are able to gain some kind of direction, instead wondering what they should do next.
Finally, I'm still working out technical things such as being able to stream the audio, instead of having to download it as a file.
One week left, and I'll use it well!

Major work!

So a lot of things have been happening because the project is due soon...

After half yearlies passed, I was able to focus on finishing my IPT project.

I've incorporated multimedia that I've filmed before the half yearlies, and included stuff like image and audio files, so my prototype is done for now. I'm planning to cut down on the story a bit, because it's kinda long.

Finally, I've gathered feedback from people both inside and outside of our IPT class, so I'm putting together the documentation.

2 days to go!

In this lesson, I've been working on fixing my register, with the help of POK HIM SIU. Originally, I had subpages, but now they're actually announcement posts :O.
I've also added on an extra post, so including this, I have 6.

I've been kind of taking a break from my IPT major project. I've been busying studying for the half yearlies, which completely rendered my Gantt Chart useless :'(.
From last time, I've been trying to improve on my script. I'm trying to change the ending, but it will have to stay a happy ending for now. I've been also rereading my draft to find things I could improve.
In the meantine, I've created my website on Google Sites. I'm currently working on things such as template, and I've worked out how to upload my video/audio and images onto the website, so currently my only worry is getting those videos and images.
I've found points in my story where I could insert other multimedia to enhance the mood. I'm trying to find a use for the numerical data type...
I've already filmed my first scene, and put it to music. Right now I'm working on reworking the audio, so that what I've said while I was filming was actually audiable.
Apart from this clip, I'm guessing I'll have about another 4(ish) video clips to do. I'm wondering about whether or not I can finish on deadline...
Well, I'll see how it all works out later.

Other multimedia

Alright, I've finally finished writing out my story. It ended on a happier note than I had originally planned, but that's fine too.

Now I'm trying to decide where to put my multimedia...

Most of my website will be text. I'll insert some audio, video and image where I find it'll enhance the mood or if it'll help. For the most part, the user will be reading, occasionally coming across audio and video. I've already found at least 2 places to use audio and video, and several places to use images. I'm going to try and up the number of video and audio, so right now I'm trying to find soundtracks that would help.

I'll be creating my website soon, and typing up the story. I'm trying as hard as I can to prevent blocks of text, so my story will be divided into "Entry numbers", which are the equivalent of chapters.

I'm still working on it currently, and I hope the prototype will be a decent one.

Continuing on the project

I haven't made a register post in a while...

So, I've been continuing work on my multimedia mystery. Currently, I'm still trying to write the plot of "Dream Diary", but I've been trying to come up for ideas. I've been trying to plan to see how certain ideas may work out. Since I have a time constraint and I don't want to write an entire novel, I'm trying to see how to cut down on the length of the story. I decided to include one dream sequence a chapter, which continually escalates in magnitude until at the end, the main character needs to survive a psychopath that's hunting him inside his school.

I'm still planning out the details of the mystery. I'm trying to come up with questions that I can pose at the start of the series, to be answered later on. Currently, I've finished planning on the creator of the diary.

So yeah, I'm still trying to think things out, and get good ideas. I'm going to try and finish my draft as quickly as possible, so I can then improve on it.

Starting on the project

So a few weeks have passed, and I have made (a little) progress.

After thoroughly thinking through my ideas, I have decided to scrap my closed island, as diary entries and incorporating video sounds too difficult.

Instead, I have decided to go with my "Dream Diary" idea, with the diary slowly whittling down the sanity of the user. I've begun writing my draft, and will try to create my website after I'm done with my draft.

Well, I'm having trouble with deciding what I should do, but I've got a few ideas.

in my opinion, a whodunnit mystery seems easiest to write. Currently, my idea that's probably going to work best is a closed circle mystery. A closed circle is where contact with the outside world has been severed, with a killer amongst the characters. The characters then get picked off one by one and hopefully find the killer so they can leave.

I'm still not quite sure about what media to use for this. I decided on a website because a video fails if it isn't made well (and the only editing software I can use is Moviemaker ><), and I can incorporate small video clips, audio and images if I want to.

I'm still in the midst of deciding what I should do, but these ideas are probably what I'm going to go with. I'll post again when I've decided on my "mystery".

But for now, back to forcing inspiration.
